Nelson Cleveland Woods I

Dr. Woods was born in Covington, PA on September 17th, 1932. He went graduated from Germantown High school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He married Alma Woods on June 17th, 1978 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He went on to graduate from Indiana University and Oklahoma University as well as Defense Information School.

He worked as a Counselor and was Professor of Political Science of Human Behavior at Fort Benjamin Harrison and Camp Atterbury.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served our country honorably during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was involved in Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and the NAACP.

Dr. Woods is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Woods. He leaves to cherish his memory son Nelson Woods II, grandchildren Alana Montgomery, Zoey Woods, Zaaven Woods, Maverick Woods, and sister Gloria Burroughs.

The family of Dr. Nelson C. Woods wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Amanda Cline (Nurse and Caretaker), extended family Tom and Kim Knox (neighbor and close friends), Elizabeth Odle family friend, and Peggy Box family friend.

A memorial visitation for Nelson will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
