Nicholas "Nick" "Big Daddy" Kent Brooks

Nick was a vibrant soul, known for his warmth, quick wit, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for his family and friends. He had a strong personality and a determination that some might have called stubbornness. Those who truly knew him understood that this was simply part of what made Nick… Nick.

Nick was a proud graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Class of 1998, where he stood out for his athletic talent. He earned several awards in football, wrestling, and track, always giving his best and showing the strength and determination that stayed with him throughout his life.

Nick was also, in his own special way, the world’s first gamer. He loved spending time with his cousins and could always be counted on to come through with quarters whenever the opportunity arose. Those simple moments became cherished memories, reflecting his generous and playful spirit.

At an early age, Nick professed his love for Christ while attending Agape Apostolic Faith Ministry under the leadership of the late Bishop Gary L. Burt. Although his journey with the church changed over the years, he never lost his relationship with God. His faith remained a quiet source of strength, helping him endure and overcome many of life’s adversities.

Nick was a peaceful soul who valued his privacy and treasured quiet moments alone. In those times, he found comfort in writing about life, his perspective of the world, and most importantly, love. His words reflected the depth of his heart and the way he experienced life with thoughtfulness, honesty, and feeling.

One of Nick’s greatest desires was to have a wife and children of his own. Although life did not unfold that way for him, he poured his love into the children in his family. He adored his nieces and nephews and cared for them deeply whenever he could, giving them the love and attention he always hoped to share with a family of his own.

Nick was also a hardworking and dedicated service technician at Falcone Subaru. He was valued not only for his skill and dedication, but for the genuine connections he formed with those around him. Nick had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for, and his coworkers became more than colleagues; they became an extended family.

Nick peacefully departed this earthly realm to be with his Lord and Savior.

In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love of those closest to him. Though his absence leaves a space that can never be filled, his life leaves behind memories we will cherish forever: his laughter, his stubbornness, his kindness, his words, his loyalty, and the love he so freely gave.

Nick fought many battles in this life, and now his fight is over. He can finally rest. May he rest peacefully in the presence of his Lord and Savior, knowing he was deeply loved, greatly appreciated, and will never be forgotten.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his mother, Tammy Taylor; father, Kenneth Brooks; and his brother, Terrance Foreman.

Nicholas is survived by his village who cared for him physically, emotionally, and spiritually; Uncles: Norman "Kent" (Bridgett) Barnes, Nicholas "Trent" (Jackie) Barnes, and Marcel Taylor. Aunts: Trina (Oscar) Jones, Tyran Smith, Twana Turner, Terry Taylor, and Tiese Smith. A host of cousins who were raised with him as siblings (you know who are), his niece Tenice Young, nephew Terence Foreman, and their mother, Luci Bolds. With this village, he became the uncle of many special nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends and his extended family at The Falcone Subaru.

A visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Remembrance Hall, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, on August 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
