

Norma was born in Indianapolis to Raymond and Ruth Giroud on July 3, 1938. She went to school in Franklin Township. Norma traveled the country playing softball and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in 1998. She earned her Master's degree from the Normal College of the American Gymnastic Union of Indiana University. Her first job as a Physical Education teacher was at Greenwood High School. She retired from Burkhart Elementary in Perry Township. After retiring, she went on to teach at the college level and supervise student teachers.
She married Richard Baker on June 12, 1965. She had a lifelong love of horses and dogs and owned several of her own over the years. Norma moved to Venice, Florida in 2008 and was able to pursue her artistic talent, resulting in a one-person art show as a member of the Venice Art Society. Norma was a member of several churches over the years and participated in a mission trip to Haiti. Norma returned to Indiana in 2024. A lifelong Christian, she most recently attended Indian Creek Christian Church.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband Richard Baker and her parents Raymond and Ruth Giroud.
Norma is survived by her siblings Benjamin Giroud (Janie), Linda Ellis (Randy), Rebecca Wagner (Gilbert), and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 27 at Little & Sons Funeral Home from 11:00-1:00.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Saturday, June 27 at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46237, officiated by Chaplain Clance LaTurner.
Burial will follow at Acton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Little & Sons.
Memorials may be given to the Indianapolis Animal Care Services or Alzheimers Association. The family of Norma wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Anew Hospice, Chuks, and the staff at Rosegate and all of her dear friends over the years. She will be greatly missed.
