

34, of East Chicago, passed away on March 21, 2019.
Nykeida Lashawn Peterson Giddeon was born on August 15, 1984 to Janet Wash and Michael Anthony Peterson. She weighed 6lbs 13 ounces. She was preceded in death by her dad Michael Anthony Peterson. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Star Light Missionary Baptist under Pastor Rev. Smith in 1992. As she grew up into the woman she became, she always had loved God. She was married to her best friend Dontrel Giddeon on October 31, 2009. She has two children, Kevin whom she had first, then two years later her baby girl Nia Emoni. They were her joy. Nykeida also leaves her mom Janet Wash, whom she loved very much.
Her brother Brandon Solis, two sisters Eboni Collins and Tanesha Thomas, she loved them so much. A host of aunts and uncles on the Peterson side and special aunts Sherrie Baker and Valerie Johnson. And her special cousins Jalisa Wash, Kallie Baker, and Carlton (Oudie) Baker. She was a loving aunt to her nieces Zoey Rosario and Avaria Reyes and nephews Carmelo Helm, T.J. Reyes, and C.J. Reyes; a loving sister-in-law to Cheyenne (Chris) Reyes; a loving granddaughter to her grandpa Jesse Giddeon. And I can’t forget Dallas her goddaughter whom she loved and named and special adopted nieces Essynce Benton and Jadyn Powell-Cork.
Ladies whom she has been best friends with since grade school, Ladia (Elliott) Ruff, Ericka Powell, Crystal Plair, Alexandria Jackson and Tiffany (Bryson) Davis. And a host of special friends including Kelvin Bride and Ronald King and many loved ones. Her pets that will truly miss her: her dog Rocko, her cat Gracey, and her fish Corey.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Family Funeral Care on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from
11:00am-12:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at noon at the funeral home.
