
OLGA MAE STIGLER, daughter of the late Louis Stigler and Olga Stigler, was born April 12, 1924 in Carrollton, Mississippi. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Carroll County, Mississippi. She was a part of a small singing group at the church called “The Stigler Sisters”. OLGA also attended school at the church through 8th grade. She attended Greenwood High School for 9th grade. In 1946, she left home and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She later joined New Bethel Baptist Church and was a faithful member for many years. OLGA was a school teacher and a hair dresser for a period of time. The last job she had until she retired was a private housekeeper. She served the Mertz family for 44 years. The Mertz’s loved Olga and she were treated as part of the family. OLGA often enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and dancing at the club. She will be forever known for her fabulous cooking from her cornbread down to her caramel cake and famous homemade cheese cake. When she was not vacationing with the Mertz Family in Florida and Massachusetts she was known as a second mom and mother figure to many as she did not have children of her own. OLGA MAE STIGLER departed this life Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, James, Simon, Charles, Benny, George, and Herman; 3 sisters, Mary Jefferson, Ruby George, and Mildred Curry. Along with her extended family John Mertz and Penny Mertz, OLGA leaves to cherish her memory: Sister, Sarah Stigler-Terry, God-daughters, Betsy Thomas (Lou) and Susan Ivancevich (Ivan) God-son, John Mertz Jr. (Saundra), and a host of loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
