Omer Anthony Vogelgesang Jr.

Omer Anthony Vogelgesang Jr., "Shorty" 93 of Fishers passed away Saturday, September 8th at Hamilton Trace in Fishers. He is preceded in death by his parents Omer and Florence Vogelgesang and grand-daughter Katie Vogelgesang. Born and raised in Indianapolis, he attended St. Phillip Neri Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II. On August 28th, 1948 he married the love of his life Reba Hindman. They spent 70 years loving each other, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He spent over 40 years working at Link Belt. In his spare time he loved watching sports especially basketball and baseball. His favorite teams were Butler, Purdue, the Pacers, Colts and the New York Yankees, or any team/sport his grandkids were participants. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially to Siesta Key, Florida. Shorty is survived by his wife Reba, daughter Linda (Mike) Kavanaugh, son Philip (Ruth) Vogelgesang, grandchildren Dave (Lex) and Tim Vogelgesang, Heather (Brian) Wilson, Steve Kavanaugh, Karen (Pat) Dagon, Julie (Nick Vote) Kavanaugh, 14 (soon to be 15) great-grandchildren, and sisters Mary Jane Voyles and Patty Vogelgesang, many nieces, nephews and good friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Albright, Sarah Surber, NP, all the nurses, CNA's, therapists and staff at Hamilton Trace who have lovingly cared for him, especially Caprice and Jas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mad to the Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans.
