

After graduating Martinsburg High School, Oscar served in the Army, during WWII. He also served in the Vietnam War. Military decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. After WWII, he received a journalism degree from WV University.
He worked in broadcasting and public affairs in Okinawa where he met Masako. They married in 1958, devoting their lives together for 62 years. Oscar re-enlisted after returning to the US in 1960. Assignments included California, Germany, Vietnam tour, Ft. Harrison, Ft. Sheridan. Their children are Michael, Connie, Frank, and Pauline. Oscar also worked for the State of Indiana.
He was a devoted family man, voracious reader, pilot, and cyclist (until age 91). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. His children are honored to call him father and look forward to seeing him in God’s Kingdom. Psalm 91 sums up Oscar’s life, “…says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name... With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
