Patrice Elaine Bland passed away on August 12, 2016. Elaine was like a fine piece of Lalique crystal glass. She was decorative and fun, but she had many layers that gave her texture. She was born with a passion for beauty on September 22, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Her first job was working at Top Hat Tuxedo owned by her Aunt Elizabeth. Her second job, that she loved the most, was keeping the books at Paul Bland’s fine shoe store and handbags. The Peacock Shoe Shop was the home of luxury shoes and handbags for women and was located on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.
Elaine rounded out her career at Purdue University as Director of Global Engagement for International Programs. In this capacity she travelled to China, Kenya and Dubai taking her class act global.
When not working, Elaine could be found spending her time with her lifetime love Roger Scott Bland. She is survived by her beloved husband R. Scott Bland, daughter Robin Patrice (Bland) Edwards, and her three beautiful grandchildren Benjamin, Maxwell and Molly. She’s also survived by her mother-in-law Dorothy June Bland, sister-in-law Sandy Green, brother-in-law Mick Green and her son-in-law Andrew Edwards.
