86, a life-long resident of Indianapolis, departed this life Sunday, February 5, 2012. She was born in the Irvington neighborhood on March 5, 1925 to Louis R. “Red” and Magdalena (Wuest) Hagan. Patricia attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and St. Mary’s Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from Marian College in 1947. She had worked for the Indianapolis Juvenile Court System as a social worker and probation officer. She was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church for more than 55 years. Patricia directed the church’s religious education program for several years, coordinated the St. Andrew bridge club, enjoyed reading to St. Andrew kindergarteners and began Andy’s Thrift and Gift, a church-sponsored thrift store ministry benefiting the Forest Manor neighborhood. Patricia was also a member of the Guardian Angel Guild, Brebeuf Mothers’ Association, and the Marian College Alumni Association. Cuba, Hawaii, Ireland and Poland provided Patricia with amazing travel experiences and stories. Her favorite times, however, were the times she spent with her children and grandchildren in the home she built with her husband.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert J. Hebenstreit; sons Michael J. (Robyn Moberly) Hebenstreit and Thomas C. (Pam) Hebenstreit; daughters Patricia A. Hebenstreit and Marie C. (Michael) Beason; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and special cousin who was like a brother to her, Robert E. Nelson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 AM with calling at the church beginning at 10:00AM.
