Patty was born in Indianapolis to Dr. Floyd and Norma Fults on December 28, 1925. She went to school at Shortridge High School and then on to Butler University. She married John Ithel Black on March 20, 1948, in Indianapolis. After many years being widowed, she married Richard Kidd on May 15, 1993. Following the raising of her pride and joy Debby, she worked as a sales associate at L.S. Ayers fine china and crystal department, sharing her love of all things precious and sparkling. However, Patty was much more renowned for her green thumb in the garden, bountiful baking skills (especially pies and Christmas cookies), card playing, travel to interesting places in the world (including her treasured times in Bay View, Michigan), and yet nothing would top her deep love for her family. She was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church after being a long-time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and remained a faithful believer in God throughout her life.
Patty is preceded in death by both John Black and Richard Kidd, her father and mother, her brother Floyd Fults “Sonny” and her sister Norma Roush “Jodie” as well as her aunt Sarah Birk.
Patty is survived by her beloved only daughter Debra Ann (Black) Ours and her son-in-love Gerald; Granddaughters Amy Smith and Kathryn Wiley (Justin); Great Grandchildren Mikahla (24), Andrew (14), Preston (14) and Spencer (11). Patty’s life was filled with many people she loved, including her brother-in-law (Tom); Nieces and Nephews (Jeff, Kathy, Susie, Dan and Nancy); her long-time friends and of course, her furry companion Lily.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 pm on September 6, 2022 at Crown Hill Cemetery Memorial Chapel, with funeral services to be held immediately following from 1:00-2:00pm at Crown Hill Cemetery Memorial Chapel with the Dr. Glenn McDonald, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to honor Patty with memorial gifts directed to:

The family of Patty Kidd wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Paradigm Hospice, Prairie Lakes Health Campus, IU Saxony and her caregivers at Senior1Care who helped her live this bonus year on her terms. We are forever grateful for the extra time we had as a family.
