Paul James Bosler passed away on June 30, 2026, on his 70th wedding anniversary. He was able to celebrate the occasion with his bride and several of his children prior to his passing. He was born in Indianapolis Sept. 3, 1931 to Clara Seegers and Raymond Bosler. He attended St. Joan of Arc grade school, Cathedral High School, and St. Joseph College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, and married Sharon Scotty in Chicago in 1956 and she survives.
Paul leaves ten children — Paul Jr deceased in 2023 (Judi), Michael (Nekisha), Teresa Thiesing (Michael), John, Patrick (Luci), Mark, Brian deceased in 1989, Marie (Kevin), Jennifer Redmond (Tim), Regina. He has 12 grandchildren — Peregrine Bosler (Matt Abbot), Piers Bosler, Austin Thiesing (Ashley), Luke Thiesing (Alasha), Carolyn Holdren (Aaron), Cole & Eric Bosler, Aiden Bosler, Miles, Vienna, & Ian Fontaine, and step granddaughter, Anna Newton (Dustin), 6 great grandchildren, Abagail & Michael Thiesing, Nora Thiesing, Jordyn Randolf and Okley Newton, and Esme Abbott.
Paul was in chemical sales in Charlotte, N.C. and Indianapolis. In 1966, as a father of 7 children, Paul began his own chemical company. He and his partner James Roberts made Mid-State Chemical Co. a great success, despite a devastating fire in 1970. When Paul retired, four Bosler brothers continued and enlarged the business.
If there was one place that captures Paul’s spirit, it was Lake Monroe. Whether he was taking family for sunset cruises or teaching a child to waterski, he had a way of creating a place where people felt welcome and deeply loved. He was a fun-loving man who was very easy going and friendly to all who passed through his busy household. He was a lifetime Cubs fan, season ticket holder for the Colts since they came to Indianapolis and, remarkably, he lived to see the Indiana Hoosiers win a National Championship.
