

Paula Marie Johnson, a beloved and compassionate woman, passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on April 18, 1952, Paula was a devoted and generous soul who lived in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Paula attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where she graduated from the nursing program. She spent the next forty years as a registered nurse, a career marked by her hard-working and kind-hearted nature. Paula retired from the Department of Corrections in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of care and dedication.
In 1978, Paula married Dempsey Johnson in Madison, Illinois. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. After Dempsey's passing, Paula found love again with Kenneth Ward. She is survived by her significant other Kenneth, and her sons Patrick and Dajuan and his wife Amber Johnson.
Paula was a natural healer, known for her patient and caring demeanor. She was a mentor to many, sharing her love and warmth with all who knew her. Her passion for cooking was a testament to her belief in bringing people together, filling her home with laughter and joy.
Paula's community involvement was extensive, as she dedicated her time to mentoring others and contributing to the well-being of her community. Her legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and loyalty to her friends and family.
Paula is survived by her significant other Kenneth, her sons Patrick Tyler and Dajuan, and his wife Amber Johnson. Her brothers, Tyler Horrell, Curtis Clemmons, Gary Watson, and Martin Watson; and sisters, Sherry Clemmons, Nadeine Clemmons, Tammy Whitaker, Stacey Craig, and Princess Harmon.
She is also survived by Grandchildren, Kimya and Katrina Young; Keonna Graves; Aquaries Washington: Keaira, Patrick Jr, and Zavion Tyler; Makayla, Dajuan Jr, Deshawn, Damerion, Trinity Johnson, and Kashawn Baltimore; with an additional 19 great-grandchildren in total.
Paula was predeceased by her husband Dempsey Johnson, her mother Thelma Jean Gatewood, her father Leo Clemmons, and her sister Michelle Horrell.
A visitation will be held on November 7, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, in the Memorial Chapel, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 pm at the same location.
Paula's kind-hearted spirit and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
