

Pearl Fern Wilson, born on June 18, 1940, lived a life filled with love, quiet strength, and a generosity of spirit that touched everyone she met. She passed away on January 28th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy woven from kindness, resilience, and the countless moments of warmth she shared with her family.
Pearl was the devoted wife of the late Larry Wilson, with whom she built a life grounded in partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kimberly Engel, and her son, James Wilson. Despite the profound losses she endured, Pearl carried herself with grace and continued to pour love into those around her.
A proud graduate of the Marion College School of Nursing, Pearl dedicated her life to caring for others. Her compassion, professionalism, and deep commitment to quality care guided her throughout a distinguished career. She served as the Director of Nursing for several long-term care facilities, where she shaped standards, supported staff, and ensured residents received he dignity and comfort they deserved. Pearl later continued her service to community as a Surveyor for the Indiana State Board of Health, bringing her expertise and integrity to the work of improving care across the state.
Pearl was a loving mother to Kimberly Wilson-Engel and James Wilson, and a cherished mother-in-law to Larry Engel. She also embraced Roberta Coffey as a "daughter by choice", a relationship the reflected Pearl's boundless capacity for love and deep connections she formed throughout her life.
She found immense joy in her grandchildren: Chad Engel (Laura Shore) and Amanda Crouch (Brian Crouch). She celebrated their accomplishments, supported their dreams, and treasured every moment spent with them. Her great-grandchildren: Hanna Engel, Kaleb Crouch, and Kayla Crouch, brought her endless delight, and she embraced her role as a great-grandmother with warmth and pride.
Those who knew Pearl will remember her gentle nature, her patience, and her remarkable ability to make others feel valued simply by being herself. She brought comfort to difficult days and joy to ordinary ones, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.
Though her absence leaves a deep ache, her spirit remains in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love she gave so freely. Pearl Fern Wilson will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
May she rest in peace, reunited with those she loved and surrounded by the same tenderness she offered to the world.
A visitation will be held on February 9, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Gothic Chapel, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208.
The funeral service will follow on the same day at 2:00 pm at the same location.
