Peter was born in Summit, New Jersey, to Frederic and Lois “Suzi” Davis on January 23, 1950. He married Victoria ‘Vickie” Ann Stenger on May 1, 1998, in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Kentucky Wesleyan University before enlisting in the U. S. Coast Guard. He served in the Coast Guard for 21 Years retiring on July 1, 1994. Afterwards he worked as a delivery technician for two different durable medical equipment companies. Once he retired from delivering medical equipment, he volunteered for Second Helpings, a hunger relief organization. There he delivered freshly prepared meals to those in need of a good hot meal.
Pete was proud of his years spent with the US Coast Guard and since he and Vickie were married after his retirement, he wanted Vickie to see some of the Coast Guard ships resembling those on which he had served. As Pete and Vickie traveled across the United States during their many vacation trips, Pete always tried to stop at a Coast Guard station along the way to show Vickie the various Coast Guard ships if they happened to be in port. Once when they were traveling in Venice, Italy, Pete told the water taxi driver that he had been in the U.S, Coast Guard. The taxi driver immediately turned his boat over for Pete to drive across the Venice Grand Canal.
Pete loved fiery food. All of his food, except maybe for chocolate cake, received several splashes of hot sauce before he ate it. Every bottle of hot sauce that Pete purchased was consumed instead of sitting on a display shelf. One of Pete’s favorite pastimes was driving to Jungle Jim’s International Market near Cincinnati, Ohio where he could browse their shelves of over 1500 hot sauces. He always left the store with a smile on his face and a few less dollars in his wallet.
Peter was preceded in death by parents. He is survived by wife Vickie of 28 years, sister Lindsay Burnham (Noel), brother Christopher Davis (Sheila Cavanagh), nephew, Davis Cavanagh and his two Maine Coon cats, Finnegan and Winston.
