

Phyllis was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Fermo Joseph Arienti and Mabel Rhoda Parrish on December 27, 1929. She grew up in Great Barrington, MA and graduated from Searles High School in 1947. She passed on a scholarship to the Baptist Hospital Nursing program in Boston and remained in Great Barrington where she met the love of her life, John (“Jack”) Oliver Holt, Jr. They were married on June 25, 1952, in Hillsdale, NY. They began their married life of 67 wonderful years at the family-owned Berkshire Trout Farm in Sheffield, MA. They had two children, Karen and John (“Jay”), in 1953 and 1955. Jack managed the Trout Farm for over a decade and then moved his family to Bronxville, NY after the property was sold. In New York, Phyllis worked for John Wanamaker department store in Westchester. In 1969, they had their third child, Pamela and later that year moved to Indianapolis, IN. In the mid-70s, Phyllis began a 20-year career in property management with Gene B. Glick. After retirement in 1996, she continued to work for another decade for Clarins at L.S. Ayres department store.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, John O. Holt Jr.; and her son, John (“Jay”) O. Holt III.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Karen Swanson, and Pamela Hawkins (Mark Pufahl); grandchildren, Rachel Hawkins, Mark (Marsha) Swanson and Seth (Sarah) Holt; and four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, located at 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037, United States. The service is scheduled for November 14, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
