Phyllis Marie (McCarty) Young, Indianapolis, 93, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Phyllis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lorene Marie (Amos) McCarty and Dallas McCarty. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lelon "Bud" Young; sons, Jeffrey and Christopher Young; and brother, Norman McCarty. Phyllis was a wonderful mother to her 8 children, running the home with grace, and was an amazing grandmother. During her working career, while still running the home, she began as a clerk at Carlson Co. before retiring as Vice President of the large ad agency. She then dedicated her work time to Big Brothers Big Sisters of which she was very proud. Phyllis enjoyed sewing and tending to her flowers in the free time she found.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Michael Young (Sally), Philip "Pug" Young (Rosie), and Noah Young (Karen); daughters, Patricia "Pat" Young, Monica Jones (Steve), and Julie White (Bill); sister, Mary Carolyn Stralka; grandchildren, Amy Young, Aaron Young, Jessica Young, Zachary Jones (Abby), Andrea Sherwin (Greg), and Billy White (Ellen); great grandchildren, Belle Young, Tommy and Emmy Sherwin, and Henry White; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation is Friday, March 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis, Indiana.
