PJ was born on May 8, 1978 to the late Bill and Dottie Sylvester in Indianapolis, IN. He was a graduate of North Central High School, where he served as the Boys Basketball Manager, that included a State Championship in 1998. He went on to work at Sullivan Hardware and remained a part of the Sullivan Hardware Family for 28 years.
After PJ’s mom died in 1994, PJ and his dad were inseparable. They were often seen together at Butler games, Colt’s games, or enjoying his favorite Italian sausage sandwich at Pat Flynn’s Pub.
PJ was a special soul gifted to all who met him. His contagious smile infected us all. His witty charm kept us in stitches. He was an expert at teasing, no question! PJ taught us that humor is the best medicine. From PJ, we learned how to love deeper and laugh often.
He is survived by his brother Bill (Nina) Sylvester, sisters Jill (John) Starliper, Jody (Scott) Kline, Ann (Dana) Sylvester, and Katie (Ed) Kelly, and his nieces and nephews: Carson and Tony Canonie; Megan, EJ, and Maureen Kelly; Will and Sarah Starliper; and Cooper and Addie Sylvester.
The Sylvester family is forever indebted to the Sullivan family and the Sullivan Hardware Team for enriching PJ’s life to the fullest! Quite simply - Sullivan’s Hardware was his happy place!
His family would also like to thank the Village of Merici for their amazing coaches that provided exceptional care, compassion, and kindness to PJ over his last year and a half.
