Richard "Rickey" Leon Buckner

Richard Leon Buckner, affectionately known as “Rickey” by family and close friends, peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 29, 2025. Born on January 7, 1950, to Cecil Leo Buckner and Dorothy Ruth Adams Buckner, Richard was the ninth of eleven siblings.

He was educated in the IPS school system, attending School No. 56 for his primary and junior high education. Richard later graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1968. That same year, he began his career at Chevrolet’s metal stamping plant, where he dedicated 40 years of service.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Jetaun S. Buckner; grandson, Anthony D. Rollins Jr.; granddaughters, Katelyn J. Simmons and Jade D. Buckner; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208, in the Memorial Chapel. The visitation is scheduled for January 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location in the Memorial Chapel, beginning at 11:00 am on January 10, 2026.
