

68, of Indianapolis passed away on June 1, 2015. RG graduated from North High School 50 years ago. He was looking forward to his 50th High School Reunion this summer. His love of horses was well known and he was an excellent rider. He graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute Indiana, and began his position as a high school teacher in 1969 at Shelbyville High School where he remained until 1973. He then took a position as safety director at Knauf Insulation in Shelbyville and the went to work for a short time in personnel at RCA. RG then started his own business of Callis Interior Trim and his exquisite custom work is in many homes throughout the local area. He retired from carpentry several years ago but his son, Aaron has followed in his footsteps. His step-son, Kent has also benefited from his RG teaching his the trade as well. After retirement, RG enjoyed traveling to Florida to see friends, fishing, hanging out in his man-cave in Whiteland and enjoying the company of friends and family. Although RG did not make the lung transplant list he was insistent on being a donor and making it possible to give life to others! He would encourage all of you to think about donation when the time comes.
Richard is survived by his wife; Charlotte Callis, son; Aaron (Krista) Callis, step-sons; Shawn (Amy) Sharp and Kent (Rachael) Sharp, grandchildren; Jalen, Jacob, Victoria, Kenneth, Clay, Devyn, Clare and Evelyn ,sisters; Ruth Ann (Tom) Sanders and Jeanne (Richard) Hassell along with 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Little and Sons Stop Eleven Chapel on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:00pm with a Memorial Gathering immediately following until 5:00pm.
