Richard Jerome Duncan

Richard Jerome Duncan, age 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 5, 2023. A heart attack caused him to be taken suddenly from his many loved ones. Rick was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 5th, 1945 to Delbert Earl Duncan and Ruth Glassing Duncan.

He was blessed to have four brothers and four sisters. He was the father of two children, daughter Dawn (deceased) and Richard (Ricky) Duncan....one granddaughter and three grandsons. Rick married Gladys (Rehm) Hadley Duncan in May of 1979 and became the stepfather of her children and grandchildren. Ricky and Gladys were foster parents to several children and also took some in that the kids would bring home and needed a place to live for awhile.

They had a life of adventure serving God and many others. Camping, working with Special Needs Clients through LDM, having weekly get togethers, going to camp as Cabin Dad and Cabin Mom with them, teaching SS classes, enjoying family and friends, going to Nascar races, in these later days when being in his chair it was old movies, train shows, home movies he made over the years. Of course always loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Rick worked as a salesman for Jimmy Dean and Tennessee Pride Sausage. He also worked as a Meat Manager at Kroger, worked at their Meat Plant and retired from Kroger Grocery Warehouse in 2010.

Rick suffered from many illnesses but now he is enjoying peace and comfort without pain or so many tests or doctors to see. He will be missed greatly and loved always. Our HOPE is to see him when the Lord calls us home.

Visitation for Richard will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 11, 2023 at Center Church, 5445 Bluff Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46217. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Westridge Park Cemetery.
