Rich and his family made their way from their family farm in Little Falls, MN to Chicago, IL in 1944 where he would go on to attend Lindblom High School. Rich was drafted into the United States Army in 1959, serving two and a half years. He was stationed in South Korea with the Military Police. He was a sharpshooter, and honorably discharged in 1961.
While on leave in Chicago in 1960, Rich met the love of his life, Patricia Grzesik. Pat and Rich were married at St. Nicholas Church in Chicago, IL on February 16th, 1963. They made their family home in Westmont, IL for 28 years where they raised their three children.
Rich had a love of all things aviation, which grew over the 46 years he spent in the industry including 38 years with Eastern Airlines at both Midway and O’Hare Airports in Chicago.
Rich retired in 1991, and he and Pat moved to central Florida in 2000. Rich was an avid fisherman, and spent countless hours fishing aboard his boat, the Patty Ann.
Rich and Pat moved to Indianapolis, IN in 2020. Here, Rich focused on three things: Yahtzee, scratch-off lottery tickets, and making sure his friends and family had what they needed and were doing well.
And this is what made Rich such a memorable man: he was always more interested in how you were doing than he was in talking about himself. He was generous, gentle, kind, accepting and humble. He was a steadying force, the rock of the family that everyone could rely on for advice, perspective or just quiet companionship.
Rich is preceded in passing by his parents, Stanley and Bernice Rasinski. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 61 years, Pat of Carmel, IN; daughters, Donna and Conrad Edwards of Carmel, IN and Jane Rasinski of Burbank, CA; son, Eric and Kerry Marie Rasinski of Aurora, IL and grandchildren: Lucas Rasinski of Aurora, IL, Jack Edwards of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Theo Edwards of Carmel, IN and Rachel Rae Rasinski of Aurora, IL; sisters: Audrey and Bob Perry of Rio Rico, AZ, Pat and Fergie Locke of Whitefish Bay, WI and Joyce and Joe Coughlin of Gainesville, FL.; brothers, Jerry and JoAnn Rasinski of Oak Lawn, IL and John Rasinski of Chicago, IL and numerous nieces and nephews
We all love you and miss you Rich, and we wish you eternal Yahtzees!
Charitable contributions in his name can be made to Wounded Warriors and Tunnel to Towers.
