

Richard William Turley was born July 8, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana. He peacefully departed his life in his sleep Friday afternoon, February 7, 2020. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Elza and Christina Turley, and his daughter, Dorothy Jean Turley. During the last few years, Richard had health challenges but showed tremendous courage for several years.
He leaves behind his wife, his best friend, his love, Deloris of 38 years; one son, Richard (Patricia) Turley of Indianapolis; one daughter, Melissa Miller of Hamilton, NJ, one brother, Brian Turley of Noblesville, IN; all granddaughters, Amirah, Anyah, BellaAnn; family pet Karina (KK) Turley; 4 sisters-in-law (Beloved Benda (Tookie) Jenkins, Vivian Marshall, Cecile Treece, Vetrice Trotter); our beloved aunt, Katherine Serf; one uncle, James Embry, nieces, nephews, and cousins of Muncie, Tennessee, and Georgia.
Richard was the first recipient to receive the Wes Montgomery (famous jazz musician) Scholarship in 1971, which enabled him to attend and graduate from Indiana Central College in 1975 with a Bachelor's of Science and later obtained his MBA from the University of Indianapolis in 1987. His passion and determination for education lead him to earn his CPA in 1995 and become a Certified Corporate Trust Specialist in 2001, hence his remarkable number abilities. He officially retired from the Bank of New York in July 2019.
Richard enjoyed martial arts and received his Third Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. When he retired he planned to play golf every day. He loved watching movies, especially Star Trek and Star Wars. He was an avid IU Hoosier fan, ready to defend his team, at any cost, especially against any Purdue fan. His most joyous moments were watching his granddaughters compete in soccer, basketball, and gymnastics.
