Robert Earl Cochran, 90, of Indianapolis passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Loogootee, Indiana on August 16, 1925 to George and Ermal Cochran, and married Norma J. Gibson in 1953. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 29, 1943. He proudly served as a Seaman 1st Class/Radio Operator based out of Midway Island. He graduated from the Indiana School of Mortuary Science and spent the majority of his career in the Real Estate business. Bob was a member of the Indianapolis Board of Realtors and the Speedway American Legion, Post 500. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by a brother, Elsworth (Margie) Cochran and a sister, Bettie (Marion) Winkel. He will be missed by his loving children: Barbara Schaffer (Bill), Randy Cochran (Susan), Rene Johnson (Paul), Steve Cochran (Diana), TJ Cochran (Cheryl), Shelle Gerhart (John), and Rob Cochran (Amy); 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Harold and John.
