Robert L. Malone was born to the late Beatrice Wright and Alex Malone in Osceola, Arkansas on October 21, 1941. He accepted Christ late in life at the age of 41 years but made it his mission to be the Lords' drummer boy up until the end.
He attended Roosevelt High School where he was vice president and graduated class of 59. He then went on to join the army where he would serve as Sergeant First Class and would later retire in 1981. He was a CTA driver for Chicago transportation. He would also go to teach at Thomas Carr Howe HS & Emmerich Manual HS in Indianapolis. He retired from Manual in 1993. From there he would step into his role in the church. Although it would start with him being a deacon at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, he would eventually transition to Pastor at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Although he retired in the 90's that didn't stop him from working. Robert would become a personal driver for his wife, grandchildren, and whoever else needed a ride. He would take pride in being a landscaper and you bet not walk in his grass! He loved fishing, and you couldn't tear his head from Texas Walker Ranger, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night and them Western COWBOYS! He loved sports of all Kinds and particularly loved to watch Tiger Woods. He loved Jordan and became a fan of Lebron but really anybody who could handle the ball got his respect. His biggest love of all was his wife, family, and the Lord!
Robert was united in holy matrimony to Laura whom he loved to call Laura Nell and affectionately his 'baby' in 1972. Robert & Laura were the epitome of Love. Hardships like any other but their love trumped any and all obstacles they would ever face.
Robert went by different names. Rather you called him Pastor, Brother, Sargent, Mr. Malone, Robert Lee, Daddy, Unc, or Papa the one thing you could count on was his undying love and care for each one that graced his life. His biggest goal in life was making sure any and all knew about Christ and getting them to salvation. He wanted to save as many souls as he could. He was not shy to tell his shortcomings and encouraged everyone to get right with the Lord!
Robert was a simple man. He didn't like to make things difficult. He believed in honesty and doing the right thing. He had a big heart. He LOVED the LORD! From bible study to Sunday School, to fellowship, he enjoyed it all. He poured himself into the church and stayed committed until he retired from Pastor in 2021.
