

Robert Sylner Sharp was born February 7th, 1945, in Memphis Tennessee to Sylner and Mae Bell (Hughes) Sharp. He moved to Indianapolis at a young age. He passed away at the age of 81 on Saturday February 14th, 2026. He was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age, he later joined True Belief Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tyrone Smith. As a Christian member he really enjoyed going to Church and listening to the Choir sing, He also loved his Pastor very much, he would always say, I Love my Preacher.
Robert really loved his family, and he wanted everyone to see the importance of Family being close. He remembered everyone’s Birthday and would make sure to call them on that day to say Happy Birthday. Robert was very special and meant a lot to the people that he came in contact with. He was always ready to give advice and knowledge everywhere he went and would always break it down for you to understand what he was trying to say. He was known for having you on the phone forever talking and would always say, "I’m gonna tell you this, and then I’m going to let you go," and then would keep right on talking.
Robert was united in holy matrimony to Sarah Sharp in 1972 and to this union they had a daughter. He was later married to Brenda Baker on August 23rd, 2017. Robert was preceded in death by his Parents Sylner and Mae Bell (Hughes) Sharp. Two sisters Earl Jean Bynum and Edith Maria Bigsby. He has one living sister Minnie Butler. Robert had four sons Gary Sharp, Roland Poindexter, Dewayne Baker and Arthur Stevens Jr., one Daughter Angenette LaShawn Sharp. He had 21 Grandchildren and a host of Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
