Dr. Roberta Mary Smith, 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Roberta was born on October 22, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Helen C. (Lauer) and Francis J. Smith
Her father died 7 months before Roberta was born. She grew up in Fort Wayne with her brother Dave; sisters Joan, Toni, and Suzanne.
After graduation from St. Francis college in Fort Wayne. Roberta taught chemistry at Huntington Catholic High School where she spent many humorous hours with the students all of whom she loved.
Always bright and ambitious, Roberta moved to Atlanta to get a Masters Degree in Chemistry and then continued her teaching and love of students at Georgia Tech.
2-3 years later Roberta spent 4 years at the Medical college of Georgia , then returned to Indianapolis for her residency in Pediatrics.
Over the years she practiced in Speedway, Carmel, North Carolina, and Greenwood, Sunshine Pediatrics. Roberta loved her patients as she did her students, and received much love in her return.
After retirement her interests became bridge, gardening, spending time with her good friend and companion Denny White, her family, and old school friends. Travel was a big part of her plan, including cruises and countries - Egypt, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Thailand, Alaska and more.
She is survived by her sisters Toni Kuzeff and Suzanne Todd, friend Denny White, nieces Katy Todd, Kim Sands, Kathy Gushwa, Kay Kuzeff-Harris, Serena Smith, nephews Ken Kuzeff, Vince Todd Jr., Joseph Todd, and 10 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
A visitation for Roberta will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 4:30 PM at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E 71st St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
