93, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 2, 2019. Roy was born March 4, 1925 in Centerton, IN the son of the late Lorenzo and Emma. Roy was a sales manager and marketing manager with Electric Steel Casting Co. for 39 years before retiring in 1995. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1943 and entered the Navy in June of 1943. He served on the USS Pringle before being struck by a Japanese plane on the main deck, entered the fire room where the bomb load exploded and broke the ship in half. Roy was discharged from the Navy in May of 1946. Upon his return home he graduated from Purdue University in 1950. He enjoyed golf, fishing and especially playing cards. Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years; Donnie Jean (DJ) Winkler, son; Ron Winkler. Roy was preceded in death by his son; Donald Winkler. Visitation for Roy will be Friday, March 8th, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Family Funeral Care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 10:00 am also in the funeral home.
