Rudy C. Jackson, 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on January 23, 1947, in Indianapolis to B.C. Jackson of Atwood, Tennessee, and Sadie Lorecy Barmore-Jackson of Henderson, Tennessee. Rudy was their only child, and though he had no children of his own, he was deeply connected to his extended family, who loved him dearly.
Rudy was educated in the Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Shortridge High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, a milestone that made his family proud.
A proud veteran, Rudy served honorably in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. His service left a lasting impact on his life, and he carried both the strength and the sacrifices of that experience with him. He was recognized as a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War.
Rudy accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he also sang in the choir. His faith was a steady presence throughout his life.
In his younger years, Rudy was known for his impeccable fashion sense — always sharply dressed, always stylish, always turning heads. He loved the social scene and was well known for his presence, his confidence, and his flair.
Rudy was also a gifted cook, and his family will forever cherish the memories of gathering at his parents’ home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. His dressing was legendary — the kind of dish people talked about all year long and couldn’t wait to enjoy again. His kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and love.
Above all, Rudy was a kind, generous, and gentle man. He lived quietly, but he loved deeply. His presence was steady, his spirit soft, and his heart open.
Rudy is survived by his cousins Russell (Beverly) Barmore, Phil (Ann) Barmore, Darrell (Robin) McCann, Eric (Renita) McCann, Beatrice (Arthur) Box, and a host of great cousins, extended family, and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
A visitation for Rudy will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at Crown Hill Funeral Home from 10AM-12PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12PM.
