Obituary of Ruth Emma Axsom
Ruth Emma (Hepp) Axsom, 92, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, was born in Belleville, Illinois on March 9, 1926 to Adolph and Ella (Reuter) Hepp. She passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 surrounded by her family. Ruth graduated from Notre Dame Academy as well as community college in Belleville. Prior to dedicating her life to her home and family, Ruth served as secretary to President Herman B Wells at Indiana University. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; Edgar L. Axsom and her sister; Mary Alice Arndt. Ruth is survived by her children, daughters; Cecily Fultz (Jim, deceased) and Kathryn (Mark) Woerner, and son; Douglas, five grandchildren; Justin and Jenna Axsom, Matthew and Nicholas Woerner, and Christopher Fultz, sister Martha Kiemer of Shalimar, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a parishioner at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church in Irvington where she previously ministered as a greeter and a member of the Liturgical Committee. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, August 7 at 11 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church with calling from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment in Clear Creek Cemetery, Bloomington, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows or the Alzheimer’s Association.
