Ruth Ellen Boerner

Ruth was born in Hamburg, NY to George and Elizabeth Critchley on September 2, 1948. She graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem, Massachusetts, and earned a spot in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as a violist where she met her husband Henry “Bud” Boerner, a bassist. They both spent 40 years in the symphony together, and Ruth received a Grammy for her work on the first Toy Story soundtrack.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-daughter Heidi, and grandson James.

Ruth is survived by her son Per (Annemarie), daughters Christine (Jeff), Meghan, sons Henry “Billy” (Edith), Michael (Chloe), sisters Sally and Jean, grandchildren Mille, Mikel, Liz, Patrick, Katie, Conor, Xavior, Joseph, Johnathan, Vivian, Ruthie, Liam, and Emmy. Great-grandchildren Ellie, Sunny, Paxton, Nova, Remi, Andi, Brooks, Atticus, and Sterling.

Ruth was the most amazing wife, mother, sister and friend. Anyone who had the blessing of knowing her, loved her. She was often referred to as a walking angel; she was so patient and kind. She loved caring for others and animals. Sitting outside with her grandchildren by her pond was one of her favorite pastimes. Ruth will forever be loved and missed by so many, but she is finally at peace and reunited with her loving husband, Bud and Our Father in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the North Willow Farm Clubhouse on July 24, 2026 from 4-8pm. Food and drinks will be provided.
