Obituary of Ruth A. Hoogland
Ruth Anne Hoogland (née Lantz) passed away at home in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 8, 2022, after a lengthy battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Ruth was born on November 4, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1980, where she was a member of National Honor Society. She then matriculated to Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she met her husband of 37 years, Eric Hoogland. They were wed in 1984 and twin sons Edward and Charles were born in 1985. After living in Germany while her husband served as an officer in the US Army, she and her family moved to Bloomington, Indiana, and later to Jackson, Michigan, before settling in Indianapolis in 1993. Ruth dedicated her life to being a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. Despite struggling with disabilities since early adulthood, she worked hard to make a comfortable home and she was kind, warm, and supportive to her loved ones. She enjoyed decorating, chatting with family and friends, going on walks, listening to music, and attending church. She will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her. Ruth is survived by husband, Eric, sons Edward and Charles, sister Debbie Kobit, brother Craig Lantz, and other family and friends. On Monday, August 15, 2022, visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208 from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:15 PM.
