She moved to Anderson, Indiana during her high school years, and later to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sadie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and later united with Second Christian Church, now Light of the World Christian Church.
She received her primary and secondary education in the Russellville, Ky., and Anderson Indiana School System. She graduated from Anderson Indiana High, home of the Anderson Indians Famed Basketball Teams.
On April 2, 1954, she united with her long-time acquaintance Norman Ellis. To this union seven children were born.
Sadie was employed with Money-Mart for several years, and then later was hired at George S. Olive Accounting Firm where she remained until her retirement in 1995.
Sadie will always be remembered as a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great- grandmother. She never met a stranger. Don't let the conversation turn into her favorite past-time, SHOPPING, you may never get a word in edge-wise. If we ever said or did anything she didn't approve of her favorite word would be how "mortified" she was. We recently found out our father had a pet name of "Cricket" that he called our mother.
Sadie departed this life on February 1, 2011, after a lengthy illness. She didn't let it get her down until the very end. God was with her.
Sadie leaves to cherish her loving memory: husband Norman G. D. Ellis, seven daughters, Constance R. Highbaugh , Michelle L. Ellis, Alice F. Moss (Bennett), Barbara A. Thompson (Timothy), Angela S. Ellis, two sons David C. Ellis (Cynthia) Brian D. Ellis (India), all of Indianapolis, Indiana. Ten grandchildren, Michael A. Highbaugh, Sr., Deleise Y. Highbaugh, Clarence J. Highbaugh, Jr. , Bennett L. Moss, Jr. Tracie M. Moss, David R. Ellis, Sasha C. Martin, Trey Davis, Symeon Holiman and Drake Ellis. Two great-grand children, Michele D. Bailey, Michael A. Highbaugh, Jr., one great -great granddaughter, Aleigha R. Bailey. Sadie was blessed to have a special person in her life, an adopted daughter, Louise P. Holt. She had a large and extended group of relatives, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends.
