OBITUARY
Sally Elizabeth Skidmore
February 28, 1942 – August 20, 2021
IN THE CARE OF
Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary
Sally was born Sarah Elizabeth CaJacob on February 28, 1942 in Cincinnati Ohio to Dr. Melville and Ina McCrillis CaJacob. As she has always said she was a Buckeye by birth but a Hoosier by heart. Her family moved to Terre Haute, Indiana after her father returned from WWII service where he established his medical practice. Her brother Peter was born a year and a half later.
Sally graduated from Terre Haute’s Wiley High School in 1959 and headed to Indiana University where she majored in Education. She was a proud member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She also met Tom Skidmore, the love of her life on a blind date. They were married on June 29th, 1963 after an IU 1963 graduation for them both. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio for Tom’s job. Sally taught school in Lakewood, Ohio until her first child, Christopher was born. A move to Indianapolis, Indiana followed as Tom began a new job with Indiana National Bank. A daughter Anne and son Patrick joined the family in Indianapolis.
Sally was an active volunteer in the Jr. League and a past president of the Children’s Bureau Auxiliary. Art was a special interest all of her life and she spent many years studying at the Indianapolis Art League. She taught middle school art at St. Luke Catholic School for 21 years where hopefully her students learned to closely look at the beauty the good Lord created.
Sally loved her life, family and friends. Her hardest life event was the death of her youngest son, Patrick. Burying a child is the hardest happening a parent could ever have.
Thank you family and friends for helping to make a good life for Sally. She is mourned by her husband Tom Skidmore, children son Chris Skidmore (Michelle) and daughter Anne Brown. Her grandchildren Thomas Brown, Libby Brown, Andrew Skidmore, Grayson Skidmore and great-grandson Riley Brown.
A visitation for Sally will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Sally will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
