Sally Lambert of Indianapolis died Thursday, July 30, 2026. She was 78.
Born January 22, 1948, in Indianapolis, to Hershal Ransom Souders and Nellie Fern Souders.
Having received her nursing education in Florida, she spent most of her forty years as a registered nurse in cardiac care in Indianapolis.
Sally married Christopher Lambert in 1969, and they were married 57 years.
Struggling with illness her entire life, she was a fighter and far outlived doctors' predictions.
When she felt well, she loved to golf with Chris, shopped with her sisters, and spent whatever time she could get with her grandsons, who will tell you she was the best Nanny anyone ever had. She liked old movies (and QVC) and good jewelry, and she never missed getting her nails done by her dear friend Carol Mize.
Chris kept the bird feeders full, and Sally watched the birds — the hummingbirds most of all. She was rarely without her beloved dog, Whisper.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher Lambert; her daughter, Heather Lambert, and son-in-law, Jason Russell; her grandsons, Nolan and Gordon Russell; a friend who became a second daughter, Tonya Heid; her sister, Carolyn (Dick) Compton; her brother, Robert (Lin) Souders; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Dimick.
