

Scott Elwood Brown, 99, of Indianapolis passed away on July 20, 2026. Scott was born in Indianapolis to the late Waldo Scott Brown and Darsey Axsom Brown on June 7, 1927. Scott proudly served in the US Navy during WW II. Following his return from service, he completed his high school, earned degrees from Indiana Central College and Christian Theological Seminary. During his ministerial career he ministered at both Hansing Park and Buck Creek Christian Churches. In addition to preaching, Scott worked at Schwitzer Corporation, RCA, and retired from Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center.
Scott is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Layton Brown, parents and siblings, Vera Brown, Evelyn Pauline Malott, Thelma Elmore, Edna Lou Brown, Patricia Sullivan and Charles Edward Brown. He is survived by his children Susan Jane Highfill (Ray), Timothy Raymond (Janet), Catherine Ann England (Michael), Mary Ellen Nine (Kenneth), Peggy Ann Brown, and Robert Allen; brothers George and Danny Brown along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Private services are planned but the family would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Donations in memory of Scott may be to Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis.
