This isn't a memory, but a short message to the family.

I sell records and cds in Springfield, MO. I play a lot of jazz in our store, and oftentimes, it's Wes (and Lee Ritenour). I am currently watching Wes on YouTube, from 1965. I began reading more about him, and it took me to the news of Serene Miles Montgomery-Woods. I just want to offer all of you my condolences, and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. The Blessing is that we will see our loved ones again.

God Bless,
Jeff Moffett

I knew Wes and his family growing up in Indianapolis 50s and 60s when they lived on, Cornell St. Charlene was a classmate of mine. We knew Mrs Montgomery as "Rene." She was a wonderful and beautiful woman. Her sister lived across the street from them. Condolences to the family. R.I.P. Mrs Montgomery.

It has been both beautiful, and riveting hearing all the stories and memories shared with me through the words of my mother and sister (Tony Mont and Tameka Rush) They painted the most vivid pictures of how Mrs Montgomery raised her family, provided for her family and taught life lessons. I think what moved me most was how supportive Mrs Montgomery was as a mother to her children and grandchildren! To my mother and sister, I know this loss is great For you both but I know you both will continue to honor Mrs Montgomery legacy as a mother, grandmother and professor of life! I love you both.

I met Mrs. Montgomery through her granddaughter Nicole Montgomery. To me she was a very strong woman and greatly loved by her family. She always spoke to me and seemed to always be in good spirits. I never knew her personally, but being so influenced by her brief presence in my life was a blessing to me. She will be greatly missed and I am blessed to have met her.
