OBITUARY

Shawn Craig Franklin

December 30, 1974November 12, 2020

Unfortunately, we must announce the passing of our Son, Husband, and Dad Thursday, November 12, 2020. Shawn was a very unique individual with an incredible outgoing personality with such myriad of personal and career accomplishments in his life that is impressive.

From Southport High School "Best All Around Athlete", a four-year Multisport Letterman, as well as setting his school's record as their football kicker. He even worked with the NBA as a ball boy for the Indiana Pacers. He loved sports and excelled with each one he played. He shared his love of sports with kids and coached for several youth sports activities. Golf ended up being his favorite and he played every opportunity he could.

His resume is as diverse and his personality was. He loved working with others, especially as a Business Account Manager placing hundreds of people into jobs in multiple industries.

We often hear the expression "burning the candle at both ends". This particularly applied to Shawn. He was unstoppable in his lust for living his life at full speed ahead. Shawn charged into challenges including facing the highs and lows of life with an unbelievable attitude. He had the humor and spirit of a very special competitive athlete.

Shawn never stopped charging into his game of life and resolving those challenges he encountered.

When one burns the candle at both ends, they are living at a frantic pace. So, when it is burning at both ends the flame goes out sooner and the candle only lasts half the time. So, it was with Shawn, his candle burnt out too soon. We shall all miss his humor and spirited laughter and contagious smile that always made us feel better when we were around him.

As Shawn would always say "Stay Positive"!

With Love - Chris and Julie

I remember Shawn as the happy go lucky guy that always had room for one more friend. Middle school and high school days were fun with this guy but I’ve seen his most sincere and loving side through his posts and memories on Facebook with his boys, wife, parents, friends, career, and all his volunteer work. Prayers are being said right now for each person that will miss his love. God gained an awesome outspoken angel!

My name is Kelly and I grew up with Shawn in Phoenix. I am absolutely crushed to hear he has passed. My condolences go out to Jack & Matthew, all of his family, Julie, Chris and Pat, and friends. I thought it’d be nice to share a touch about Shawn pre-Indiana. Shawn was a pocket of sunshine! He was caring, corny, and always there for those in his life. We had many amazing memories together. He loved music, working out, tanning, football, singing, dancing, golfing, playing cards and his family. Man, he loved his family more than anything. Although his mom was his number one. He loved Arizona, but appreciated it more after going to high school in Indiana. So I will close with a photo of Shawn in Sedona, AZ, 1994 or 95. #RIP my sweet friend. Your soul is free of all. Fly high.

My thoughts and prayers are with his boys, Julie, Shawn's mother, and the entire family. So very sorry!
Shawn has worked for me for a number of years, and just loved his heart, his wit, his laugh, and that big smile of his. Shawn was just a big Teddy Bear. He never let me live down the time I had to stop in S Chicago, on our way home from training at our corp office, to get gas. About got us both in a pinch! He always told me he loved me when we said goodbyes. You will be missed my friend! Godspeed and be at peace! Love you too man!
