One may ask as I have,”how can this be~ that such a man of divine purpose on this earth be taken so soon?” It is only the Lord that can reveal such a mystery in His Time & way! I & my daughter were so blessed by this caring & thoughtful, loving man 10 years ago while going through a very tough time in our lives. He just ‘showed up’-as I know he had for so many others! His ministry was strong & passionate in all that he put forth. Our hearts will always have him, but, Jesus fully has him in His heavenly home now~ thank you Lord for giving him to all of us who knew him here on earth ~ 🙏

This man was much more than our Pastor, he was our earthly Shepherd. A good friend who taught us much in the 10 years we knew him. We will never forget the love he had for all people. And he had a great musical talent. Although we feel sorrow for loosing him, let us also rejoice, because we know he is with the Lord. He will be greatly missed. But , God willing, we will all see him again.

He was my pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lemont, IL. He loved God with all of his heart. He truly loved people, cared for them, and helped them in anyway he could. He also preached the truth from God's Word, never watered it down, because he truly cared about their souls and wanted them to know Christ before it was eternally to late. He also loved to cut up and joke around. He always said when people were either complaining or whining to "suck it up and deal with it". He was such an encouragement to me. He did truly love to sing and play different instruments praising God. He married my husband Bobby and I almost 7 years ago. We are gonna miss you Pastor. You are in heaven right now praising God.

Although I never met Pastor Steve, I listened to him several times on the computer during this at home time. I was so impressed with his easy manner with people and his passion for souls. I know he is rejoicing with the Lord, but what a huge loss for the family, the church, and Beech Grove. I have been praying for all of you.

Remember Bro. Stephen from Lemont when I was pastor at Welcome Hill & he was at Emmanuel. He took me to lunch & we had some pastoral fellowship. [I think we first met at Shawnee Baptist for either camp or youth conference and his Dad was was the much revered ...and feared Dean of Men when I was at Hyles-Anderson].
I found Bro. Stephen to be a man who loves God, family, and the lost.
Prayers for his family and many friends...

Sunday, October 6, 2019, was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. I was excited for this day, as it was the day Jessi was going to do her first act of obedience for Our Lord and Savior. She was going to be baptized, and I was invited to witness it. Such a special day!
Although we arrived a little late we were welcomed as if they knew us, with a genuine “Happy you’re here” was spoken.
I was so overwhelmed by seeing the presence of Jesus shining through Pastor Steve. My mind was racing with thoughts of how LifeBridge Community needed Pastor Steve. Our children needed to see a man on fire for Jesus. When people met someone like Pastor Steve, that his “on fire for Jesus” it would be contagious, and our children needed to be infected! We were introduced to Pastor Steve. He was just like his congregation, warm, humble, and quick to offer his help if needed. Early January, I called Pastor Steve to schedule an appointment. He had a joy in Christ that all of us should hunger for. He too had a desire for his congregation to become more involved with their community. Pastor Steve invited Brian Dowers, the Executive Director of LifeBridge Community, and me to come to speak to his congregation about who LifeBridge Community is, and what our needs were. Everyone responded to the call to action. How grateful we were, and still are for all the wonderful people we have met. Pastor Steve would never ask his congregation to do something he wasn’t willing to do himself. This is when our friendship began. He walked in his first day to volunteer and he didn’t miss a beat! Our children loved him and so did our volunteers. The thought of not having him beside us in the battle between good and evil is almost unbearable. I saw Pastor Steve's joy for the Lord, and it was so fun to watch it explode out of him. I pray that in his memory, I learn to live what he had already mastered, Full Throttle LOVE for others!

I only got to know Steve for a short time while I attended St. Amant Baptist in Louisiana. He was a very fine young man and a great role model. He comes from a wonderful family. I know he was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed. My condolences and prayers for the family and his church members and friends. This world's loss is Heaven's gain. What a reunion day there will be one day!!
