Tai Anh Tran was born on July 1, 1969 in Saigon, Vietnam and is the son of Hien Van Tran and Diep Dao Tran. In the final days of the Vietnam War, Tai and his family immigrated to Terre Haute, IN and eventually settled in Brownsburg, IN. He was a 1987 graduate of Brownsburg High School. He graduated with an Organizational Leadership and Supervision degree from the School of Technology at Purdue University in 1992. While at Purdue University, Tai was a proud brother of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity where he served as House Historian and Vice President, He was also a member of the Order of Omega academic fraternity and served as the Philanthropy co-chairman. Tai was a member of the Purdue Ski Club, which later became the Purdue Ski Team. He also graduated with an MBA with Distinction from Ellis College New York Institute of Technology in 2006. Following graduation, Tai worked for 22 years at Allison Transmission Inc. in Indianapolis, IN where he held a number of positions in Operations and Sales/Marketing with increasing responsibility. Afterwards, Tai worked at Carrier Corporation for 4 years in Business Development and Product Marketing. Eventually, Tai made his way back to HCMC, Vietnam where he started a coffee shop during the Covid lockdown before working for a year at MP Logistics as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. He was also on the Board of Directors at the Economics Club of Indiana for 2 years. Tai is married to Phuong (Cindy) Bui, who he met while working at MP Logistics in HCMC, Vietnam. Even after returning to the U.S. to begin treatment for his disease, Tai and Cindy continued to talk twice a day until she was finally approved for a travel visa to the U.S. Tai enjoyed life and was very thankful for everything that came his way good or bad. But most importantly, Tai enjoyed seeing people he loved in his life were always happy and he would go out of his way to make sure he could help them however he can. He would rather celebrate the small things in life to see a smile on other people’s faces than his own. When he discovered he had cancer, he embraced the news by spending more time with friends on the golf courses, taking weekend trips with his high school friends or just meeting them for a quick meal. One of his fondness memories he will always remember in his final months was to see over 30 of his ATO fraternity brothers organize a quick weekend rendezvous at Purdue University. Some of his brothers had traveled long distances and, in some cases, Tai had not seen for over 30 years. Tai is survived by his wife: Phuong (Cindy); his parents: Hien Van Tran (Helen Bui) and Diep Dao Tran both of Brownsburg, IN; his sibling: Lan Campbell (David Campbell) of Lebanon, IN; his niece: Maddie Campbell; his many aunts and uncles: #2, #5, #7, #8, Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crownhill.org for the Tran family.
