Mrs. Theda Talley entered into this world as Theda Norine Kyser on December 3, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Augustus Henry Kyser, Sr. and Elizabeth Olga Sheridan Kyser.
Theda married William Samuel Talley on August 23, 1969, in Indianapolis. Later their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Karma Lanea Talley (Harris) and Leah Nicole Talley.
Theda attended public schools in Indianapolis and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1964. Coming from a musical and artistic family background, she loved to draw, paint and design things. She also became a skilled pianist, taking lessons at the Jordan School of Music from age 8 through high school. Theda also majored in Home Economics and loved to sew. Playing and listening to music and dance was what she enjoyed most.
Upon completion of High School Theda went on to obtain a technical education in computers and data processing. She was a natural entrepreneur and salesperson, so worked in sales or as an independent representative for numerous companies during her lifetime. Eventually she started her own cleaning service which she owned and operated for over 32 years. In her prime she started teaching piano lessons, (her first love), which she did up until 2020 and taught voice lessons from 2014 until 2020. She loved teaching young and old alike and produced many fine pianists. She also loved gardening and found much peace and joy working in the soil planting flowers and vegetables, landscaping her yard until her backyard became an actual ‘Park.’ Photography was her second love.
In 1975 Theda came to know her Creator, Jehovah God, so dedicated her life and was baptized on August 31, 1975, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in imitation of Jesus Christ. She loved the Christian ministry and zealously helped many to come to know Jehovah. She told everyone about the coming earthly paradise. She loved Jehovah’s people– her Christian brothers and sisters– and was always trying to encourage and assist them in whatever way she could.
Theda was preceded in death by her husband, William Talley in 2018, both her parents (Augustus, in 1965 and Elizabeth, who lived with her for 14 years until her death in August of 2007), a brother Gus, Jr. (the son of her father), and beloved cousin, Michael Patton (2014). Theda leaves behind her, daughters Mrs. Karma Talley-Harris (Jeff), Ms. Leah Talley, grandchildren Jaira and Kristopher Harris, cousins, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many dearly beloved spiritual brothers and sisters earth wide, also friends, students, and other acquaintances.
A memorial visitation for Theda will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Memorial talk at 1:30 PM.
