Thelma and I shared the same middle name and we met as sister-in-laws in 1958, after marrying twins and then we even shared last names. Our firstborns (Vicky and Jami) became cousins and then best friends, as they grew older.
Slowly but surely, we became lifelong friends and sisters at heart. It became one of the best kinds of friendship, where months or even a few years could slip by us with what seemed like the blink of an eye.  But we never lost contact with one another and when once again reunited, we easily and readily picked up where we left off.  Laughter and fun was the norm, no matter what we were doing. I do not even recall us ever having a cross word with one other.  Thelma seemed to be at her happiest when she became a grandmother for the first time and eventually was able to share her love of horses, rodeo training and riding with her granddaughter, Jessica.  Then her cute and active grandson, Ethan, was born, enlarging her family circle, and she seemed very content in that family role.

What a blessing our friendship was and I will surely miss her!
