Obituary of Thomas L. Sellars
In loving memory of Thomas Lee Sellars Born 09-25-1928 Passing 04-25-2020 Favorite Scripture ISAIAH 43:18-19 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth ; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Thomas Lee Sellars was born in Liberty Tennessee to John and Elizabeth Sellars. He attended Cap Country School. From this he moved to Indiana in 1932 were he attended the following schools 32, 26 and Christmas Attucks HIgh School. He was a dedicated member of East Side Baptist Church from 1959 to 2020. Marrying Betty Jane on August 28,1964 being happily married for 51 years. His occupation was in Automobile Service at the Firestone Industrial Products Company. Dedicating 26 years of outstanding work ethic. Firestone, “It’s been great having you be part of the Firestone Family.” “Best wishes and have a happy and enjoyable retirement.” The company held a retirement party on behalf of Tom in the year of 1993. Some of his favorite hobbies were gardening with his wife. Thomas and Betty were the King and Queen of Landscaping. While gathering ideas from different terrains, many places Thomas had traveled impacted his scenery of yard work. Such as; Savannah Georgia, Hawaii, Florida, Alabama, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Chicago, Kentucky and overseas to the Philippines. In the midst of the many travels Thomas had encountered, one of the proudest moments was attending his granddaughter Blesseds Congressional Art Ceremony in Washington DC in 2019. Her painting hung in the Washington DC Capitol Building. He loved God and his pastor and was thankful for all the prayers sent from family and friends during the difficult times. Thomas’s last remarks, “Though some of my children have passed, I am grateful for the loving kids I still have here today. Sherry, Karen, Dena and Tonya. A daughter may outgrow your lap but she’ll never outgrow your heart.” “My love for my grandkids made me stay young.” “ Be humble.” “Tomorrow is never promised so I want all my friends and family to know, how thankful I am for each and every one of you and how lucky I am that you were a part of my life.” “ It’s not where you are in life, it’s who you have by your side that matters.” “ Happiness is hearing your siblings laugh.” “You don’t choose your family.
