Obituary of Tru Mua Vang
Tru Mua Vang, age 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday February 1, 2019 surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Tru was born August 20,1948 in Xiangkhouang, Laos to Nhiaying Mua and Shua Yang. She married Chouseng Vang on January 25, 1963. On April 15, 1975 she and her husband and then four children escaped from Communist-invaded Laos to a refugee camp in Nongkai, Thailand. They emigrated to the United States on October 22, 1976 where they rebuilt their lives and raised their six children. Tru worked at Von Duprin, Inc. in Indianapolis most of her life and retired from there. While she did not receive a formal education herself, she believed strongly in it for her children. She was hardworking and frugal and, together with her husband, put their children through college allowing them to all graduate debt-free. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her children. She made beautiful patch-work blankets and throws for her family. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was known to be gentle, kind, generous and always wanting to feed everyone who entered their home. In her retirement years she enjoyed working in the garden, traveling to see her children and grandchildren, and seeing the world with her husband. Together, they visited China, Vietnam, Thailand, and her homeland of Laos. Tru is survived by her husband Chouseng Vang; their children Panukoochi Vah, Hua Vang Dodson, Tou and Eileen (Song) Vang, Xeng and Brian Karns, Xay and Linda (Her) Vang, and Joy and Friendship Yang; her grandchildren Katrina, Christina, Joshua, Francesca, and Jeremiah Vue, Michael, Caleb, and Mark Dodson, Emily Karns, Samuel, Ethan, Shiloh, and Olivia Vang, Hope and Faith Yang; her brothers Vang Mua (married to Yee Yang), Chiakou Mua (married to Lee Yang), her sisters Pa Mua (married to Chue Vang Yang), Blia Mua (married to Naohoua Vue), Mee Mua, and Sia Mua (married to Joua Vang Yang).
