Valorie J. Engel

Jeannie, born on December 27, 1941 to Raymond and Marjorie McCauley in Kokomo, Indiana, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. She was adored by her family and made friends wherever she went throughout life. She will be remembered with fondness and gratitude.

In 1960, she met Eugene (Gene) Lewis Engel of Valparaiso, Indiana. The two went on to marry and spent 61 years together, raising six children, Linda, Heidi, Brian, Michael, Lisa and Donald. She was the proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren.

Jeannie was a dedicated mom to her children, raising each of them to accomplish great things and serve their communities with distinction. Her family was a priority in her life. She loved her own parents, her brothers and sisters and their families and she modeled the primacy of family for all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill, but her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, her children’s children and all those touched by her spirit in life.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie, her father, Raymond and sisters, Nancy and Kathy. She is survived by her husband, Gene Engel, her children, Linda Engel, Heidi Druhot, Brian Engel, Michael Engel, Lisa Heyman and Donald Engel, grandchildren, Zachary Druhot, Emma Druhot, Lauren Engel, Benjamin Engel, Jack Engel, Patrick Heyman, Christopher Heyman, Arwen Engel, Aeris Engel, Archer Engel, Orion Engel, John Engel, James Engel, Jack Engel, and Joe Engel and siblings, Raymond (Bud) McCauley, Suzy Kern, Tim McCauley, Patrick McCauley, Elizabeth (Betsy) Cordell, and Carol Vrabel.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeannie’s name to the American Cancer Society. A viewing will be held at 12:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Crown Hill Funeral Home - Gothic Chapel.
