Vetrice Yvonne Trotter

Vetrice Yvonne Trotter was born in Morristown, TN on November 3, 1954. She was the second to last baby of six children to Cecil and Dorothy Treece. There she attended Judson S. Hill Grammar School, Morristown Hamblen High school West and night classes at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, IN.

Vetrice was known to her family and friends as “Ms. V.”. In 1972, Ms. V. moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1973, She was married to Thomas P. Trotter, from their union, they were blessed with Tenisha Baine and Tony Trotter. She resided in Indianapolis, IN and made it her home until her death.

“Ms. V.” was a hard worker, passionate and made life fun. She had an infectious smile and her presence touched many of lives and memories that will continue on.

“Ms. V.” worked at Lane Bryant for 28 years as a telemarketer. She later pursued a different career path and joined the Children’s Bureau, now known as Firefly, where she worked as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 2021. Although she

was officially retired, her dedication to helping others never wavered. She continued to support and assist the organization until 2024, leaving a lasting impact through her compassion, commitment, and willingness to serve others.

“Ms. V.” played softball in high school, and her love for the sport eventually led her to coach an all-girls softball team during her younger years. She had a passion for cooking, took great pride in keeping her yard/deck beautiful, and cherished spending time with her family/friends, especially during the holidays, when she loved creating special memories surrounded by the people she loved. She also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises, making memories and experiencing new places along the way. She was a country girl at heart that loved fishing on the banks of the Ohio River.

“Ms. V.” was outgoing, bright, beautiful, and full of life. She loved to have fun and had a classic, old-school personality that made her truly one of a kind. Her facial expressions often said it all before her words did. She was a wonderful friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but most of all, she was a loving and devoted mother. Above all, Ms. V treasured her family, friendships, and the precious moments they shared together.

Ms. Vetrice Yvonne Trotter passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of seventy-one. She was preceded in death by her Father: Cecil Treece; Mother: Dorothy Treece; Brother: Robert Treece; Sister: Cecile D. Treece.

“Ms. V.” leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter: Tenshia Baine; Son: Tony (Jen) Trotter; Sisters: Vivian (Benny) Marshall, Brenda J. Jenkins (Lester) and Deloris Turley; Grandchildren: Tony Trotter Jr., Jalah Lyles, Bishop Baine and Londyn Trotter. Great

Grandchildren: Leilani A. Martin. Nieces and Nephews: Cecil Jenkins, Melissa Miller, Richard Turley ll, Carla (David) Dolton, Leon Jenkins, Teresa Stewart, Margaret Jenkins. Special Friends: Mike Shanklin, Bernet Smith and Rick Robertson. A host of great

nieces and nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, on August 21, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
