Vincent Carl White, 61 passed away on May 1, 2025. When Vince made his debut on September 24, 1963, he was the fifth of five children born to John and Kathleen White within a six-year period. In most households that last child might get lost or forgotten in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Not Vince. From the moment he could move and long before he could talk, he made sure he was in the middle of everything. When he wasn't in the middle, he was close to the edge, pushing boundaries, testing rules and always the center of attention. With a gleam in his eye and a big grin on his face, Vince sometimes crossed a line that he just assumed was meant for everyone else. Little known fact -Vince is short for invincible.
Every day was an adventure to be lived to the fullest and he instilled that in all his friends. Whether it was convincing the next-door neighbor that they should paint the neighbor's little brother red with Rust-oleum, playing on the banks of the forbidden White River or taking a smoke break at Cathedral, Vince was always willing to try new things and convince his friends to join in the fun. Little known fact - Vince is short for convincing.
Vince was a treasure hunter. Panning for gold in Alaska and White River, deep sea diving around shipwrecks in the Carolinas, and cleverly finding nuggets at auctions throughout the Midwest. Whether it was skiing in the Rockies or driving the Duck Art Bus at Burning Man, Vince was always creating his own treasure - friendships. His most valued possessions were his stories regaling his epic adventures. A master storyteller, Vince could tell the same story over and over and each time, a little different, but better, funnier, more spectacular.
His greatest gift was his ability to make us laugh and put us in the middle, by his side, while he took us along on his adventures.
Above all, Vince loved his family. He enjoyed outings with his dad, laughing with his brothers and sisters, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. To be in Vince’s family meant receiving sweet photos and messages at random times. Family gatherings were always more fun when Vince was around. Vince is survived by brother John (Jill), and sisters Mary White (Mark Moede), Anne White (John Zuraw), Ellen White Quigley (Fran); nieces and nephews, Joseph (Sabrina), Matthew (Kristen), John, Josh Paskoff (Katie), Matthew Paskoff (Emily), Emma Araki (Farouk), Sam Quigley, Kathleen Quigley Hickey (Collin), Jack Quigley, Abe Zuraw, and Ruth Zuraw; and great-nephews Charles and Andrew White.
Whether you were in the stories or just loved hearing them, we would love to have you join us for an informal gathering to celebrate Vince’s life at The Rathskeller 401 E. Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, on June 5, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm.
