Virginia “Ginny” Katherine Donadio Boberschmidt, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 12, 1940, to James and Bonita (Frede) Donadio.
Ginny attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado, obtaining a degree in education. While in Denver, she met her husband of 29 years and together they settled on Indianapolis as home and went on to have four children. A lifelong Catholic, Ginny was a parishioner of both St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Joan of Arc Catholic churches and also attended mass at the Carmelite Monastery in Indianapolis.
When her son was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 11, Ginny poured her heart into educating herself about the disease and became the president of the local JDF chapter for many years. In her later years, she was a devoted volunteer with the Palliative Care program at Wishard (Eskenazi) Hospital. She valued death with dignity, and when it was her turn, she enrolled in ARN Hospice, who helped guide her through the last steps of her life’s journey.
Misty Soler was Ginny’s human guardian angel along with caregivers Bri, Latrice, Judette and Lionel, who spent countless hours caring for Ginny in her final chapter of life. Ginny’s family is so grateful to all of them, as well as the staff and residents of Lincoln Lodge for their love and support of Ginny.
Ginny was a lifelong animal lover, owning numerous dogs throughout her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she was undoubtedly smothered in kisses and love when she was at long last reunited with all of them on the rainbow bridge.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Bonita Donadio; brother Dr. James V. Donadio II; son Christopher J. Boberschmidt; and former husband Philip F. Boberschmidt. She is survived by her children: Mary (Michael) Vennemann; Andrew (Susan) Boberschmidt; Elizabeth (Anthony) Ioannacci; grandchildren Chrissy, Tony, Jack, Andy, Danielle, Matt, Brian, Ava and Sophia; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ARN Hospice or the Humane Society of Hamilton County.
Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, Gothic Chapel, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, on July 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
