William (Bill) Moeller passed into his eternal home on Thursday, November 3rd. He was surrounded by his loving daughters, Pam Moeller, Cindy Gaskins, Karen Carlson and LuAnn Renner the day of his passing. Bill was born to William and Margaret Moeller on December 12, 1931. Raised in the Lutheran Church, it was recommended by his Pastor after Bill's confirmation speech, that he enter the ministry. Bill went to Concordia College at the age of 16 in Ft Wayne, IN. He studied for 4 years there and then attended Butler University while waiting for an opening at the Seminary in St. Louis to finish his studies. It was God ordained that in his short year at Butler, he met the love of his life, Barbara Niles. The Korean War was occurring at this time and Bill was drafted. He and Barbara were married after a very brief 2-month courtship. Bill then served 4 years in Rantoul, IL where he taught Meteorology to his fellow Airforce comrades. After his service, Bill brought his family back to Indianapolis. He soon was introduced to financial planning and ended up in this field for 50 years, mostly with Guardian Life Insurance Company. He was passionate about helping people find security financially and many of his clients became friends. Bill was involved in Sertoma Club, active in his church, involved in Prison Ministry, leading a full life of family, friends and service to our Lord. He was a faithful Christian who wasn't afraid to share his faith and love of the Lord with others. He befriended people in his walk of life who served him at the bank, his favorite restaurants and other places he frequented. Bill and Barb retired in Tucson, Arizona for 20 years where he became involved in a large Ukulele Club Sun City Strummers, who played to the community as well as nursing homes. Bill saw the need for bringing church into the nursing homes and was a lay minister delivering church to those people. Bill loved music! He was able to play the piano by ear from an early age and played the guitar and Ukulele as well. His favorite music was gospel. Bill was a faith-filled optimist and encourager to those in his life. Those who were fortunate to know him knew he cared about them, what was happening in their lives and would usually have a scripture verse on the tip of his tongue to encourage them. He was married to Barbara for almost 66 years before she passed in 2019. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by many. He is survived by his 4 daughters, Pamela Moeller, Cindy Gaskins (Jim), Karen Carlson (Jack) and LuAnn Renner (Gary); grandchildren Erin , Timothy and Elizabeth Moriarity, Nicole Dunn (Joe) and Andy Moore, Audrey Weber (Paul) and Brea Hunton (Jeremy), Rob Renner (Nola) and Ben Renner (Lily); plus 8 great-grandchildren; brother John Moeller and sister Diane Vitz. Bill's confirmation verse has come to be: Revelation 2:10 "... Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life".
Bill's celebration of life service will be held at Cornerstone Lutheran church, 4850 E Main St in Carmel, IN on November 29th, 2022. Visitation will start at 11am, Celebration of Life at 12p and a lunch for the family will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
