William R. Smith, 86affectionately known to most as "Billy Ray," passed away on October 8, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald E. Greenwade; daughter, Andrei J. Ford; brother, James "Jimmy" Smith; and sister, Mae Nell Smith.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Smith; children, Dr. William Smith Bey, D.M., Earl D. Smith, Trina V. Ridley (Rodney), Duane "Butch" Smith, Darlin D. Smith-Moore, Gerald A. Smith (Kim), Perry L. Smith,Sr. (Angela), Lisa L. Garrison (Veon), Shana Ford-Gogoua (Richard), Preston H. Ford and Damon C. Smith; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 12 p.m. in Greater Morning Star Church, 5502 E. 36th St., with visitation there from 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment: Crown Hill Cemetery.
