

Mr. William Blair Stanfield Junior was born on August 23, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first-born child of William Blair Sr. and Anna Mae Stanfield. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. J.T. Highbaugh Sr. at Good Samaritan Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
William attended IPS elementary schools and Crispus Attucks high school where he graduated in 1967. He then pursued a bachelor's degree from Indiana University- Bloomington from the fall of 1968 until the spring of 1970. He was employed as a general laborer at Bryant Heating and Cooling company after leaving college.
William was somewhat of a trailblazer. He was the first person in our family to graduate from high school and to attend college.
William was a comic book enthusiast. His favorites were the DC comics with Superman being his hero, but he was our hero.
He also was a soul funk aficionado, with a love for that Motown Sound. He always wanted to hear some Marvin Gaye, Isaac Hayes, Willie Hutch and those tempting Temptations. He also enjoyed watching ole' school movies and eating bacon cheeseburgers deluxe from Hardee’s.
William had a way with people he was soft-spoken, polite, and well mannered. He had a way of responding to you by saying “aight,” and tilting his head up. He was affectionately called Jr. or June by his family. He was also called “Bill,” by his Florence house family.
William Blair Stanfield Junior departed this life on September 18, 2025, at his home at the age of seventy-seven years and twenty-six days old.
He was proceeded in death by his father, William B. Sr.; his mother Anna M. Stanfield, brothers; Gregory, E. and Thomas Stanfield. Sisters; Donna J. and Linda M. Stanfield. Nephew; Seku’ T. Stanfield, Nieces; Chloe B. Knox, Jerilyn D. Rancher. and Nicole V. Webster.
He leaves to cherish his memory; one brother, Sherman M. Stanfield; three sisters; Bettye E. Johnson, Cheri S. Lash (Joanne) and Tammy S. Knox. Seven nieces, four nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
